PI Native Input Adapter (and Output Adapter)...

Oct 15, 2012 at 5:46 PM

I cannot find these adapters. All I see are the old ODBC adapters.

These will be ready in a couple of weeks and will be posted as an additional download on the v1.5 download page.

Thanks!

I would like to hear more about the PI adapter. Do these replace the PI Interface adapters that OSIsoft licenses

No - these just use the PI-SDK to read and write data into OSI-PI from openPDC...

So the OSI PI Interface is still needed to make it work or is only the PI server required?

Technically you should only need a PI server to archive and retrieve data...

Yes but technically and smoothly don't go hand in hand for this.

Is there a way to archive data into PI using Java instead of .NET?

There are a number of ways to connect to PI from Java. For the PI adapters in openPDC, the PI SDK is being used, but my understanding is that the SDK is maybe not the best option for Java. You may want to consider the PI JDBC driver or PI web services. Here's some information from OSIsoft if you're interested in more information about connecting from Java: http://techsupport.osisoft.com/Support+Solution/8/KB00362.htm
